Abstract

Artikel ini menganalisis arah transformasi Armed dalam konteks perubahan karakter perang, kebutuhan pertahanan negara kepulauan, dan tantangan fase awal invasi. Argumen utamanya adalah bahwa pengembangan Armed tidak lagi memadai bila diletakkan hanya dalam kerangka bantuan tembakan linier atau modernisasi platform. Sebaliknya, pengembangannya perlu ditempatkan dalam kerangka sistem efek mandala, yaitu arsitektur tempur yang mengintegrasikan sensor, komando dan kendali, tembakan lethal, tembakan non-lethal, mobilitas, ketahanan logistik, perlindungan spektrum elektromagnetik, dan kemampuan bertahan dalam kondisi jaringan terganggu pada setiap pulau besar dan gugusan kepulauan strategis.

Basis empiris artikel ini memadukan data inventaris terbuka dari The Military Balance 2026, teori kapabilitas dan readiness, teori logistik operasional, serta korpus konseptual penulis di laman Kodim 0602/Serang yang membahas operational art, operational fires, command and control warfare (C2W), mosaic defense, dan rekonfigurasi Korbantem. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa struktur inventaris Armed telah memasuki fase hibrida—menggabungkan legacy artillery, mobile self-propelled artillery, multiple-launch rocket systems, dan embrio deep strike—namun belum sepenuhnya terkonsolidasi menjadi arsitektur efek yang siap, adaptif, dan anti-kolaps.

Kontribusi utama artikel ini adalah perumusan tiga lapis kebaruan: Sistem Efek Mandala Kepulauan (SEMK), Sistem Efek Mandala Adaptif (SEMA), dan nexus Operational Fires–Korbantem–C2W Readiness–Operational Sustainment sebagai kerangka transformasi dari mass of tubes menuju mass of effects yang dapat dipertahankan dalam ruang kepulauan.

This article analyzes the direction of transformation of Field Artillery (Armed) in the context of changing warfare character, the defense needs of an archipelagic nation, and the challenges of the initial invasion phase. The central argument is that developing Armed is no longer adequate if framed merely as linear fire support or platform modernization. Instead, its development must be placed within the framework of a mandala effects system—a combat architecture that integrates sensors, command and control, lethal fires, non-lethal fires, mobility, logistics resilience, electromagnetic spectrum protection, and the ability to sustain operations under degraded network conditions on every major island and strategic island cluster.

The empirical basis of this article combines open-source inventory data from The Military Balance 2026, capability and readiness theory, operational logistics theory, and the author's conceptual corpus on the Kodim 0602/Serang website covering operational art, operational fires, command and control warfare (C2W), mosaic defense, and Korbantem reconfiguration. Analysis shows that Armed's inventory structure has entered a hybrid phase—combining legacy artillery, mobile self-propelled artillery, multiple-launch rocket systems, and embryonic deep strike capabilities—but has not yet fully consolidated into a ready, adaptive, and anti-collapse effects architecture.

The article's main contribution is the formulation of three layers of novelty: the Mandala Islands Effects System (SEMK), the Adaptive Mandala Effects System (SEMA), and the Operational Fires–Korbantem–C2W Readiness–Operational Sustainment nexus as a transformation framework from mass of tubes to a sustainable mass of effects in the archipelagic space.

Pendahuluan

Introduction

Perang kontemporer memperlihatkan bahwa efektivitas kekuatan darat tidak lagi terutama ditentukan oleh jumlah platform atau volume proyektil, melainkan oleh kecepatan dan integritas hubungan antara sensor, pengambil keputusan, penembak, logistik, perlindungan spektrum elektromagnetik, dan keberlanjutan fungsi tempur.

Dalam lingkungan seperti ini, keunggulan tempur bergeser dari keunggulan platform menuju keunggulan sistem. Korpus penulis di laman Kodim 0602/Serang menegaskan perubahan itu secara konsisten: perang modern dibaca sebagai benturan antarsistem; nilai tembakan ditentukan oleh kemampuannya mengganggu radar, komunikasi, inventori interseptor, ritme keputusan, dan operational enablers lawan; serta kemenangan awal lebih sering lahir dari rusaknya kepastian situasional lawan daripada semata-mata dari hancurnya platform tempurnya.

Bagi Indonesia, persoalan ini menjadi lebih kompleks karena harus dihadapi dalam konteks negara kepulauan. Karena itu, isu pokok pengembangan Armed bukan sekadar penambahan satuan atau pembelian sistem baru, melainkan bagaimana membangun kemampuan tembakan yang mampu menopang pertahanan pulau besar dan gugusan kepulauan strategis secara relatif mandiri, terutama pada fase awal agresi.

Pada fase ini, persoalan sentral bukan hanya menghancurkan gelombang serbu pertama, tetapi mencegah kolapsnya sistem pertahanan sendiri akibat serangan terhadap komando, komunikasi, radar, logistik, dan simpul-simpul kritis. Di sinilah artikel ini meletakkan tesisnya: masa depan Armed harus dibangun sebagai sistem efek mandala yang sekaligus siap menghasilkan efek operasional dan siap bertahan pasca-serangan pelumpuhan.

Tulisan-tulisan penulis sebelumnya sudah memberi fondasi konseptual bagi tesis tersebut. Artikel tentang Kabut Digital dan Rudal Presisi menempatkan seni operasi dan C2W sebagai kunci membaca perang modern. Contemporary warfare demonstrates that the effectiveness of ground forces is no longer determined primarily by the number of platforms or volume of projectiles, but by the speed and integrity of connections between sensors, decision-makers, shooters, logistics, electromagnetic spectrum protection, and continuity of combat functions.

In this environment, combat superiority shifts from platform advantage to system advantage. The author's corpus on the Kodim 0602/Serang website consistently affirms this shift: modern war is read as a collision of systems; the value of fires is determined by its ability to disrupt the enemy's radar, communications, interceptor inventory, decision rhythms, and operational enablers; and early victories more often arise from the collapse of the enemy's situational certainty than merely from the destruction of their combat platforms.

For Indonesia, this problem is further complicated by its archipelagic context. Therefore, the core issue in developing Armed is not merely adding units or purchasing new systems, but how to build fire capabilities that can sustain the defense of major islands and strategic island clusters with relative autonomy, especially during the initial phase of aggression.

In this phase, the central challenge is not only destroying the first assault wave, but preventing the collapse of one's own defense systems from attacks on command, communications, radar, logistics, and critical nodes. This is where this article places its thesis: the future of Armed must be built as a mandala effects system that is simultaneously ready to generate operational effects and ready to survive post-suppression attacks.

The author's earlier writings have provided the conceptual foundation for this thesis. The article on Iran's Mosaic Defense shows that defense against a technologically superior adversary requires a combat persistence architecture based on distributing critical functions, limited local action autonomy, and layered defense. Rumusan Masalah, Kesenjangan Penelitian, dan Kebaruan

Problem Statement, Research Gap, and Novelty

Artikel ini menjawab tiga pertanyaan. Pertama, bagaimana perubahan karakter perang dan literatur Revolusi Urusan Militer mengubah relevansi kecabangan artileri darat. Kedua, sejauh mana basis kemampuan dan arah pengembangan Armed saat ini telah sesuai dengan kebutuhan pertahanan pulau besar dan gugusan kepulauan strategis Indonesia. Ketiga, model konseptual apa yang paling tepat untuk menghubungkan kemampuan tembakan darat, readiness, operational fires, Korbantem, C2W, dan logistik operasional ke dalam desain kekuatan yang mampu bertahan pada fase awal invasi dan kondisi komando yang terdegradasi.

Kesenjangan penelitian terletak pada dua bidang. Literatur global mengenai RMA, field artillery, dan operasi multi-domain terutama berkembang dari pengalaman negara kontinental dan perang darat berintensitas tinggi di daratan luas. Sebaliknya, kajian pertahanan Indonesia sering berhenti pada deskripsi postur, ancaman, atau daftar alutsista, tanpa merumuskan desain kekuatan artileri yang khas bagi geografi kepulauan, ancaman pelumpuhan sistemik, dan sustainment operasi dalam mandala yang berpotensi terputus dari pusat.

Kebaruan Berlapis

Kebaruan artikel ini bersifat berlapis. Pertama, artikel ini merumuskan SEMK sebagai model force design yang menempatkan kualitas kill chain lokal sebagai indikator utama kesiapan tiap mandala. Kedua, artikel ini mengembangkan SEMA sebagai model transisi dari arsitektur tembakan terintegrasi menuju arsitektur persistensi tempur anti-kolaps. Ketiga, artikel ini memperkenalkan indikator transformasi empiris dari mass of tubes menuju mass of effects dengan basis inventaris aktual Armed. This article addresses three questions. First, how changes in the character of warfare and the Revolution in Military Affairs literature alter the relevance of the field artillery branch. Second, the extent to which Armed's current capability base and development direction align with Indonesia's needs for defending major islands and strategic island clusters. Third, what conceptual model best connects ground fire capabilities, readiness, operational fires, Korbantem, C2W, and operational logistics into a force design capable of sustaining the initial invasion phase and degraded command conditions.

The research gap lies in two areas. Global literature on RMA, field artillery, and multi-domain operations has primarily developed from continental nations' experiences and high-intensity land warfare on broad landmasses. Indonesian defense studies often stop at describing posture, threats, or equipment lists, without formulating artillery force designs specific to archipelagic geography, systemic suppression threats, and operational sustainment in mandala potentially cut off from centers.

Layered Novelty

The article's novelty is layered. First, it formulates SEMK as a force design model that places local kill chain quality as the primary readiness indicator for each mandala. Second, it develops SEMA as a transition model from integrated fire architecture to an anti-collapse combat persistence architecture. Third, it introduces empirical transformation indicators from mass of tubes to mass of effects based on actual Armed inventory. Fourth, it places the Operational Fires–Korbantem–C2W Readiness–Operational Sustainment nexus as the conceptual framework for Armed's future.

Methodology

Artikel ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi literatur strategis dan sintesis konseptual. Sumber utama terdiri atas empat kelompok. Pertama, sumber inventaris terbuka dari The Military Balance 2026. Kedua, artikel akademik Correia tentang konsep kapabilitas dan perencanaan strategis. Ketiga, karya Kress tentang logistik operasional. Keempat, korpus konseptual penulis di laman Kodim 0602/Serang yang membahas seni operasi, operational fires, mosaic defense, C2W, dan rekonfigurasi Korbantem.

Analisis dilakukan dalam empat tahap. Tahap pertama mengidentifikasi perubahan karakter perang yang relevan bagi kecabangan artileri. Tahap kedua memetakan basis kemampuan terbuka Armed terhadap kebutuhan pertahanan pulau besar dan gugusan kepulauan strategis. Tahap ketiga menyusun model SEMK dan SEMA serta nexus Operational Fires–Korbantem–C2W Readiness–Operational Sustainment. Tahap keempat menilai bagaimana logistik operasional memungkinkan kedua model itu berfungsi dalam keadaan normal maupun terdegradasi.

Artikel ini tidak berpretensi menyusun order of battle tertutup; tujuannya adalah merumuskan model konseptual yang dapat dipertanggungjawabkan secara teoretik dan ditopang oleh data inventaris terbuka.

Fourth, the author's conceptual corpus on the Kodim 0602/Serang website covering operational art, operational fires, mosaic defense, C2W, and Korbantem reconfiguration.

Analysis is conducted in four stages. The first stage identifies changes in the character of warfare relevant to the artillery branch. The second stage maps Armed's open-source capability base against the defense needs of major islands and strategic island clusters. The third stage develops the SEMK and SEMA models and the Operational Fires–Korbantem–C2W Readiness–Operational Sustainment nexus. The fourth stage assesses how operational logistics enables both models to function under normal and degraded conditions.

This article does not claim to compose a closed order of battle; its goal is to formulate a conceptual model that is theoretically defensible and supported by open-source inventory data.

The Military Balance 2026 mencatat bahwa Indonesia memiliki 1.243+ artillery. Komponen itu mencakup 92 self-propelled artillery, terdiri atas 54 CAESAR 155 mm, 18 M109A4 155 mm, dan 20 AMX Mk61 105 mm. Kategori towed artillery 133+ meliputi 18 KH-179 155 mm, 5 FH-88 155 mm, serta kelompok 105 mm 110+ yang mencakup M101, M-56, dan sebagian KH-178. The author's writings on Iran's mosaic defense reinforce this diagnosis by showing that effective defense against technologically superior adversaries demands distribution of critical functions, limited local action autonomy, passive defense, and combat persistence.

SEMK adalah model force design yang menempatkan setiap pulau besar dan gugusan kepulauan strategis sebagai ruang tempur semi-mandiri yang harus memiliki kemampuan minimal untuk menjalankan siklus mendeteksi, memutuskan, menembak, menilai hasil, dan bertahan secara lokal. Ukuran keberhasilan SEMK bukan sekadar jumlah platform atau jangkauan sistem, tetapi derajat keutuhan kill chain lokal dan kemampuan tiap mandala menghasilkan efek tempur tanpa ketergantungan absolut pada pusat.

Dalam kerangka ini, CAESAR lebih tepat diposisikan sebagai tulang punggung tembakan bergerak mandala, sedangkan ASTROS dan Khan/Bora menjadi inti tembakan kedalaman mandala.

SEMK is a force design model that places each major island and strategic island cluster as a semi-autonomous combat space that must have minimum capabilities to execute the detect-decide-fire-assess-survive cycle locally. The measure of SEMK success is not merely the number of platforms or system range, but the degree of local kill chain integrity and each mandala's ability to generate combat effects without absolute dependence on the center.

Within this framework, CAESAR is best positioned as the backbone of mandala mobile fires, while ASTROS and Khan/Bora become the core of mandala depth fires.

5.4 — Dari SEMK keFrom SEMK to Sistem Efek Mandala Adaptif (SEMA)

SEMK belum sepenuhnya menjawab persoalan persistensi tempur setelah sistem pusat terpukul. Karena itu, artikel ini mengembangkan SEMK menjadi SEMA. SEMA memungkinkan tiap mandala beroperasi dalam dua mode:

5.5 — Operational Fires sebagai Inti Desain Mandalaas the Core of Mandala Design

Dengan basis inventaris yang sudah ada, masa depan Armed tidak otomatis tercapai hanya dengan penggelaran howitzer, roket, dan rudal. Sistem-sistem itu baru memiliki makna operasional bila digunakan menurut logika operational fires. Itu berarti sasaran tidak lagi dipilih terutama berdasarkan kategori senjata, tetapi berdasarkan fungsi sistem lawan yang harus dipatahkan: radar, simpul komando, titik bongkar, depot, pusat relay komunikasi, koridor konsolidasi, operational enablers, dan infrastruktur yang memungkinkan lawan membangun pijakan operasi pada suatu pulau atau gugusan strategis.

Inti operational fires bukan pada ledakan proyektil, melainkan pada pembentukan kondisi operasi.

Given the existing inventory base, Armed's future is not automatically achieved merely by deploying howitzers, rockets, and missiles. These systems only gain operational meaning when used according to the logic of operational fires. This means targets are no longer selected primarily by weapon category, but by the enemy's system functions that must be broken: radar, command nodes, unloading points, depots, communication relay centers, consolidation corridors, operational enablers, and infrastructure enabling the adversary to establish an operational foothold on an island or strategic cluster.

The core of operational fires is not the projectile explosion, but the shaping of operational conditions.

5.6 — Korbantem: dari Pengaturan ke Pengorkestraan EfekKorbantem: from Fire Regulation to Effects Orchestration

Dalam perang kontemporer, medan tempur dipenuhi drone, ISR murah, electronic warfare, dan tekanan simultan terhadap C2. Karena itu, Korbantem tidak cukup lagi dipahami sebagai pengaturan sektor tembak, prioritas senjata, atau pencegahan fratricide. Ia harus berkembang menjadi sistem pengorkestraan efek yang mengintegrasikan howitzer, roket, rudal, UAV, counter-UAS, electronic warfare, operasi informasi, dan perlindungan logistik ke dalam satu urutan efek yang koheren.

Dalam bentuk lanjutannya, Korbantem bagi masa depan Armed harus memenuhi empat fungsi: dekonfliksi tembakan, sinkronisasi lintas-platform, sinkronisasi lintas-efek antara lethal dan non-lethal fires, serta sinkronisasi lintas-waktu untuk menghasilkan pelumpuhan sistemik.

In contemporary warfare, the battlefield is filled with drones, cheap ISR, electronic warfare, and simultaneous pressure on C2. Therefore, Korbantem can no longer be understood merely as regulating fire sectors, weapon priorities, or fratricide prevention. It must evolve into an effects orchestration system integrating howitzers, rockets, missiles, UAVs, counter-UAS, electronic warfare, information operations, and logistics protection into one coherent effects sequence.

In its advanced form, Korbantem for Armed's future must fulfill four functions: fire deconfliction, cross-platform synchronization, cross-effects synchronization between lethal and non-lethal fires, and cross-time synchronization to produce systemic suppression.

The implication for Armed is clear: modernization cannot be measured from procurement alone, but from readiness to mobilize, distribute, integrate, sustain, and restore the effects system in mandala potentially cut off from main command. In this sense, Armed's readiness is no longer just readiness to fire, but readiness to sustain systemic combat function.

5.8 — IntegrasiIntegration of Lethal dan Non-and Non-Lethal Fires dalam C2Win C2W

Tulisan penulis tentang Kabut Digital dan Rudal Presisi dan Update Taktik Iran versus Amerika Serikat/Israel menunjukkan bahwa perang modern tidak lagi hanya berlangsung terhadap order of battle lawan, tetapi terhadap kemampuan lawan mendeteksi, mengklasifikasi, memutuskan, dan mengeksekusi dalam tempo tinggi. 5.9 — Logistik Operasional untuk SEMK–SEMAOperational Logistics for SEMK–SEMA

SEMK dan SEMA tidak cukup hanya sebagai arsitektur sensor–penembak; keduanya harus menjadi arsitektur sensor–penembak–sustainment. Logistik operasional mandala berarti tiap mandala memiliki kapasitas minimum untuk mendistribusikan amunisi, bahan bakar, suku cadang kritis, pemeliharaan lapangan, evakuasi kerusakan, dan aliran informasi logistik sehingga gerak dan tembakan tetap berlangsung dalam ruang dan waktu operasi.

Kress menunjukkan bahwa perang modern sangat bergantung pada opsi logistik send, yaitu pengiriman sumber daya dari belakang ke depan. Akan tetapi, bagi Indonesia, ketergantungan penuh pada model ini akan menciptakan kerentanan tinggi apabila jalur laut, udara, atau pusat distribusi utama terganggu pada fase awal invasi. 5.10 — Masa Depan ArmedThe Future of Armed

Dengan memasukkan operational fires, Korbantem modern, C2W, readiness, dan logistik operasional ke dalam satu kerangka, maka masa depan Armed dapat dirumuskan lebih tajam. Armed tidak lagi cukup dipahami sebagai cabang yang "menembak jauh" atau "menambah volume tembakan". Ia harus dibangun sebagai arsitektur efek mandala adaptif yang mampu melakukan empat hal sekaligus: menghasilkan efek operasional, mempertahankan keberlangsungan fungsi tempur, melumpuhkan proses keputusan lawan, dan menjaga sustainment mandala ketika pusat terganggu.

Konsekuensinya, yang harus dibangun ke depan bukan hanya artileri yang lebih banyak atau lebih jauh jangkauannya, tetapi Armed yang lebih siap, lebih terintegrasi, lebih anti-kolaps, dan lebih efektif memerangi sistem lawan daripada sekadar platform lawan. Pusat gravitasi modernisasi harus bergeser dari platform acquisition menuju effects architecture development yang ditopang oleh operational sustainment architecture.

By incorporating operational fires, modern Korbantem, C2W, readiness, and operational logistics into one framework, Armed's future can be formulated more precisely. Armed can no longer be understood merely as a branch that "shoots far" or "adds fire volume." It must be built as an adaptive mandala effects architecture capable of simultaneously: generating operational effects, sustaining combat function continuity, suppressing the enemy's decision process, and maintaining mandala sustainment when centers are disrupted.

Consequently, what must be built is not merely more or longer-range artillery, but Armed that is more ready, more integrated, more anti-collapse, and more effective in combating enemy systems rather than merely enemy platforms. The center of gravity of modernization must shift from platform acquisition to effects architecture development supported by an operational sustainment architecture.

Dalam pengertian ini, SEMK dan SEMA memperluas literatur transformasi artileri dengan menambahkan dimensi kemandirian mandala dan persistensi tempur lokal, sementara nexus Operational Fires–Korbantem–C2W Readiness–Operational Sustainment memperluasnya dengan menambahkan dimensi integrasi efek, kesiapan sistemik, dan sustainment adaptif.

Secara praktik, implikasinya adalah bahwa modernisasi Armed tidak boleh lagi dipahami sebagai agenda penambahan pucuk, peningkatan kaliber, atau penambahan jangkauan semata. Theoretically, this article shows that RMA, operational art, and C2W are insufficient when applied without geographical, readiness, and sustainment adjustments. For an archipelagic nation, operational geography and combat function continuity must become theoretical components in force design. In this sense, SEMK and SEMA extend the artillery transformation literature by adding dimensions of mandala autonomy and local combat persistence, while the Operational Fires–Korbantem–C2W Readiness–Operational Sustainment nexus extends it by adding dimensions of effects integration, systemic readiness, and adaptive sustainment.

Practically, the implication is that Armed modernization can no longer be understood as an agenda of merely adding barrels, increasing caliber, or extending range. The priority lies in building a complete combat chain: organic sensors, adaptive C2, compact logistics, spectrum protection, unit function differentiation, per-mandala combat persistence protocols, non-kinetic effects integration into Korbantem, and sustainment that can survive when main networks are disrupted.

The success of modernization is measured not merely by the addition of platforms, but by the increased ability of each mandala to deny, delay, and punish aggression locally in the early conflict phase, and to continue fighting when command centers and logistics centers are disrupted.

Kesimpulan

Conclusion

Artikel ini menegaskan bahwa masa depan Armed tidak cukup dijawab melalui pendekatan modernisasi platform. Perubahan karakter perang telah menggeser nilai artileri dari sekadar kemampuan melepaskan proyektil menjadi kemampuan menghasilkan efek operasional melalui sistem yang terintegrasi. Dalam konteks Indonesia sebagai negara kepulauan, implikasi logisnya adalah kebutuhan akan model pengembangan yang berpusat pada kemandirian tempur pulau besar dan gugusan kepulauan strategis.

Atas dasar itu, artikel ini mengajukan dua model konseptual. SEMK menempatkan tiap mandala sebagai ruang tempur semi-mandiri dengan rantai sensor–penembak lokal, tembakan berlapis, C2 adaptif, dan logistik tempur minimum. SEMA mengembangkan model tersebut dengan menambahkan mode persistensi terdesentralisasi yang terinspirasi dari logika pertahanan mosaik Iran, sehingga tiap mandala tetap mampu bertempur ketika sistem pusat terkena serangan pelumpuhan. Di atas itu, artikel ini menambahkan satu kontribusi konseptual lagi: masa depan Armed harus dibangun melalui nexus Operational Fires–Korbantem–C2W Readiness–Operational Sustainment, yakni kerangka yang memadukan seni operasi, pengorkestraan efek, peperangan komando dan kendali, kesiapan sistemik, dan sustainment operasional ke dalam satu desain kekuatan.

Dalam rumusan yang lebih padat, yang harus dibangun ke depan bukan hanya artileri yang lebih banyak menembak, tetapi Armed yang lebih siap, lebih terintegrasi, lebih anti-kolaps, lebih sustain, dan lebih efektif memerangi sistem lawan daripada sekadar platform lawan. Peralihan dari mass of tubes menuju mass of effects yang dapat dipertahankan menjadi tolok ukur transformasi yang paling relevan.

This article affirms that Armed's future cannot be answered through platform modernization alone. The changing character of warfare has shifted artillery's value from merely the ability to fire projectiles to the ability to generate operational effects through integrated systems. In Indonesia's archipelagic context, the logical implication is the need for a development model centered on the combat autonomy of major islands and strategic island clusters.

On this basis, this article proposes two conceptual models. SEMK places each mandala as a semi-autonomous combat space with a local sensor-shooter chain, layered fires, adaptive C2, and minimum combat logistics. SEMA develops this model by adding a decentralized persistence mode inspired by Iran's mosaic defense logic, so each mandala remains capable of fighting when central systems are subjected to suppression attacks. Beyond this, the article adds one more conceptual contribution: Armed's future must be built through the Operational Fires–Korbantem–C2W Readiness–Operational Sustainment nexus—a framework that integrates operational art, effects orchestration, command and control warfare, systemic readiness, and operational sustainment into a single force design.

In more concise terms, what must be built is not merely artillery that fires more, but Armed that is more ready, more integrated, more anti-collapse, more sustain, and more effective in combating enemy systems rather than merely enemy platforms. The transition from mass of tubes to a sustainable mass of effects becomes the most relevant transformation benchmark.
